How to Use the Waitlist & Placeholder Columns

Based on standard scheduling operations, the Placeholder Column (also known as a Waitlist or Ghost Column) operates with the following rules:
  • No Notes or Check-ins: It serves purely as a visual placeholder. It does not produce a clinical note and does not allow a patient to be formally checked in.
  • No Initial Communications: While a patient is scheduled in the Placeholder column, the system will not send out automated appointment confirmations or reminders.
  • Online Booking: Patients have the ability to book online directly into the Wait List column.
  • Triggering Confirmations: Once clinic staff moves the patient's appointment from the Wait List to an actual provider's column, the standard appointment confirmation email is finally triggered and sent to the patient.
  • Primary Use Cases: The column is highly beneficial for managing patient waitlists or blocking out shared clinic resources (like a laser room) where a full provider schedule isn't necessary.
