Verifying Your Provider on Claim.MD
Before Claim.MD can be set as your active clearinghouse, each enrolling provider (NPI) must complete a one-time phone verification. This confirms the name on the call matches the provider name listed on NPPES.
Step 1: Locate the Verification Option
- Go to Facility Settings > Insurances.

- Click on Available / Quick Enrol.

- You will see an Enrol button dialog box — click on it.

Step 2: Start the Call
- A new tab will open with a phone number drop-down.

Select the phone number listed for your NPI on NPPES.
- Click Call.
Step 3: Complete the Verification Call
- You will receive an incoming call from Claim.MD.
- Answer the call and confirm your participation when prompted.
- State your name exactly as it appears on NPPES for the NPI being verified.
If the Phone Number on NPPES Is Incorrect
If the number listed no longer works or needs to be updated, this must be corrected before verification can succeed:
Log in to NPPES, PECOS, or CMS (login credentials are the same across all three) and update the phone number.
- The change typically reflects within a few minutes.
- Once updated, return to Step 1 and re-attempt verification.
Common Issues
- AI answers the call and verification fails — This can happen if an automated system picks up. Try again during hours when a live person can answer.
- Wrong name given on the call — The name stated must exactly match what's listed on NPPES for that NPI. A mismatch (e.g. a preferred name instead of the legal name on file) will cause the verification to fail.
- "Provider validation required" error during EDI/ERA enrollment — This usually means the phone number or address on file with NPPES is outdated. Contact zHealth Support so we can help correct this and, if needed, escalate a related PECOS update (which may require a W-9 or proof of address).
